I shot a man in Sanford.
Just to watch him die.
Folsom is too good for him.

...and that's what I never understood from the original. If shoot a man in Reno, why was he doing time in a California state prison?
Rockie: I guess because it sounds better than saying "I shot a man in Mendocino..."
DPT: Yeah, you want the meter to sound right. Plus, Reno qualifies as being part of the wild west in many people's imagination.
RtD: Sometimes you have to be a little forgiving about geographic details.
