Obama could have requested a straight news personality from Fox, like Shep Smith or Chris Wallace. Why did he agree to speak with, and thus legitimize, Bill O'Reilly?

as if this wasn't bad enough, before this, oreilly gained infamy for his multiple condemnations of "tiller, the baby killer." the doctor who was murdered.
why would obama lend credence to someone who vilifies abortion and abortion doctors? does he really think he can pander to oreilly's anti-choice viewers? i have a better chance of flying to the moon. does obama realize the signal he's sending? does he realize how pissed off the base will be for seemingly being so tone deaf and dismissive about this issue?
