Let's get this message out:
Ensuring there's enough money to pay for the war will require reforming the country's entitlement system, [House Minority Leader John] Boehner said. He said he'd favor increasing the Social Security retirement age to 70 for people who have at least 20 years until retirement, tying cost-of-living increases to the consumer price index rather than wage inflation and limiting payments to those who need them.
Seriously.

And to think the electorate is quite possibly poised to reward such mind-boggling stupidity by turning Congress over to the GOP, thereby making this man Speaker of the House.

The man who thinks the Democrats are "snuffing out" America will do a nice job of that on his own.

Editor's note: This story has been edited from its original version. During a wide-ranging interview with the Tribune-Review, House Minority Leader John Boehner said the federal government must continue funding the war in Afghanistan to protect the nation. He also said Congress must curb spending on federal entitlements, such as Social Security to reduce the federal deficit. He did not link those issues directly.
