Don't worry. once the Republicans take over next year the filibuster will be somewhere up there in the pantheon of magnificant American traditions as motherhood, apple pie, and God.

Nope. Since Republicans are currently in the minority, the filibuster is currently synonymous with apple pie, baseball, and the flag.

As soon as Democrats are in the minority again, the filibuster will suddenly become communist, gay, and anti-American.
