Image problem:

The right have teased Obama for using a teleprompter in many situations. That has - in most cases - been a silly charge. But Obama does use it excessively, like in a sixth-grade classroom. It feeds into the aloof/out-of-touch meme. Can't the guy read from cue cards once in a while?

John Stewart caught it as well. More and more, I'm beginning to think that Obama is acting as a front man but I should have expected that.

And the AP published a clear photograph that was obviously intended to highlight the teleprompters.

I'd like to point out that these images would not have been published a year ago. The press was in full adulation/protection mode.

Perhaps not so much anymore.

As you can see from the Stewart piece, he made a speech (yes with a teleprompter) then took questions from the press at the school. AFTER he met with students. Video of which is below, which shows there is no teleprompter.

Why you want to parrot some right wing nutjobs is beyond me.

the one that bugged me the most was his speaking before katrina victims on hour and then jetting off to a fundraiser in san fran the next.

but obama's question time just made up for a ton of imaging failures.
