Do ya like tariffs?I do. I think, especially with imports from low-wage countries, they give labor the economic power to negotiate with business for a portion of productivity growth. Tariffs also help manufacturers (most notably in the 19th century from British competition).
In any event, Paul Krugman has
a chart showing tariffs over the last two centuries. Worth a look.

i like the idea labor leaders have been pushing. add an extra tax to importers who were originally US based, but moved out of country for cheaper labor. why should firms be able to take advantage and get a free ride accessing american consumers after stabbing in the back american workers? something needs to be done to disincentivize shipping jobs overseas.
