Beg to differ:

Headline: [Republican] Congressman Herger calls Obama [health care] plan 'threat to democracy'

No. The health care plan is not that.

However, there is a threat to democracy and it's the Cash for Clunkers program. Thankfully, it's ending in a few days. Otherwise, it would have been the means by which Obama would have become dictator of the United States, and following that, the world.

What about the vegetable garden at the White House, that's a hallmark of tyranny.

a few years ago, the former editor of wsj on bill moyers argued the more money somebody had, that entitled them to more democracy. rich people or wealthy entities are entitled to wield more influence, he argued. reminded me of the supreme court ruling that declared money was free speech. more money equals more speech.

so yes, reforms threaten democracy. corporate democracy. it threatens corporate dominance over congress.

we really really need public financing if we want public servants acting in the public good once again.
