Why is John McCain on Meet the Press today?He's not in a leadership position in the Senate. He's not on a critical committee. He's not been part of the dialogue on financial matters. He's already gotten tons of face time over the last eight years, so it's not like he needs more exposure. What's up?

He was probably selected because he has no further chance of becoming a "rising Republican star" -- i.e. a threat to Obama in 2012.
somebody has to represent corporate lobbyists.
