Geography of the vote:The New York Times has an
interactive graphic showing who voted for and against the stimulus bill in the House. How about that West Coast? They say geography is destiny, so what's going on here?
Republicans seem to hold districts that are rural, with farming, mining, and logging as the main business. But they will feel the hurt as the industrial/trade sections of the economy (mostly blue) start to decline. Then, perhaps, they will be more inclined to support a stimulus.

No they won't. They'll see the "stimulus package" as having had either no effect or as having made things worse. Republicans who support the concept of a stimulus want it in the form of a tax cut anyway.
once again we have the rural districts reflecting their disdain for the hand that feeds them! i wish the times would have included a percentage of the us population that is represented in the votes as they stand, as well as an economic breakdown as to production of national gdp by the two groups.
