That was really Mary Matalin with her wig off in a man's suit. James and Mary switch around like that from time to time working both sides of the street.

I think it's because Carville appeared in the same Wedding Crashers movie scene with McCain. He was as smitten with McCain as Owen Wilson was with Rachel McAdams...

He's a Clintonista hack who's basically irrelevant without Bill or Hillary in the White House. Of course he's got a hard-on for McCain; Hillary can run against him in '12 should he win.
