McCain is calling for a tax hike!We learn that John McCain is
still promoting a "gas-tax holiday" this summer.
Here's how it would work. The 18 cent federal tax would be cut to zero. Then, when the summer is over it would go back up.
But, as so many Republicans like to claim,
not extending Bush's 2001 tax cuts
amounts to a tax hike.
Using the Republican definition of a tax hike, and with McCain's proposal to undo the cut at the end of summer, you have to conclude that
John McCain supports a hike in the gasoline tax.

You are perceptive, but you got the last part wrong: once the gas tax is gone, IT'S NOT COMING BACK! Consume more! Taxes bad! Oil profits up! National Highway system on its own!
