Shorter David Broder:
Ignorance is bliss.
How else to interpret these words of his:
A country that tunes its television sets to the Super Bowl or the World Series in numbers that dwarf any presidential debate is probably healthier in its outlook and more sensible in its priorities than one in which C-SPAN would outdraw ESPN.

Given the questions asked at the debates, they have a point. However, what this really means is that we should have better questions asked by more sensible (ie. sane) questioners.
