Rush Limbaugh bashing John McCain this Wednesday:

Not sure what it means, but it is a little surprising. Limbaugh bringing out his laundry list of bad things McCain has done:
  • McCain Feingold campaign legislation
  • Was against Bush tax cuts in 2001/3
  • Supported ACLU brief on a detainee case (unspecified)
  • Supports citizenship for illegal aliens
Limbaugh is also saying negative things about Huckabee (taxes, some social services enhancement).

He had a few predictable remarks about those bad liberals (today, they are liberal Republicans in the northeast). But it's odd that Limbaugh is going after McCain, much in the way he did in 2000. What's Limbaugh's angle here? Wouldn't the Republicans be relieved to have McCain as the standard bearer? He probably wouldn't win, but he gets respect from most of the press and wouldn't lose in a rout (which either Romney or Huckabee might do, for different reasons).

I'm willing to bet that Limbaugh will go into full "Manchurian Candidate" mode on McCain if McCain does well in Iowa.
