This is something that I have been watching for a couple of years now.
Politicians are almost always shown with their mouths open in still pictures. This is regardless of political party or political leanings.
I don't think there is a conspiracy among photojournalists or photo-editors. It must be that politicians have their mouths open so often that is against the odds to snap them with their mouths closed.
Unfortunately, even with all of the jaw flapping, they don't seem to have anything of interest or importance to say.
