What really happened here? John Kerry acted like a jerk. Even if he was just mocking Bush's academic background, that's a throwback to his failed 2004 campaign, off-message at best in this election. Are the Republicans exploiting his misstep? Of course they are, nakedly.

They say a week in politics can seem like a lifetime. Let's hope so, so that this nonsense can fade away.
