How about now?
In a much-derided [1 2 3
] essay in the Washington Post
about the current mess in Iraq, Ken Pollack writes:
How Iraq got to this point is now an issue for historians (and perhaps for voters in 2008); what matters today is how to move forward ...
How about us voters in 2006?
I loved that diagram you created, IIRC supporters of the invasion or something like that, which had Josh Marshall as a single connection sprouting off of Pollack.
Pollack must have just seen a Laurel and Hardy short film in coming up with this inspiring statement. (Of course, both Stanley and Ollie may have been smarter than George W.) Pollack and other supporters of George W are bright guys, whereas George W majored in cheerleading at Yale. Perhaps George W with his subsequent Harvard MBA training learned to rely upon people smarter than himself. So George W can blame Pollack and the other bright guys for this "fine mess you got us into, Ollie."
