The big story in November?

Looks like it could be the economy. Housing is slowing and the consumer might pull back (no more REFIs, plus prices are up for gas and everything else). It may make Iraq a second tier issue. And it wouldn't be good for the Republicans. There's no way to spin a slowing economy.

The big story after the first Tuesday in November will be how the Democrats blew it.

The election was theirs to lose and they lost big. Mainly, because they couldn't present any ideals, programs, or even suggestions. The best they could do was to say, "we're not Republicans".

"Peace and prosperity" aren't all they are cracked up to be... Bush proved that in 2000. A little gay-bashing, immigrant hating and promises to keep God's name in the Pledge of Allegiance is all it will take for Republicans to win in 2008 once again proving that people do indeed get the kind of government they deserve.

But all those factors were in play in '04. Kerry was a shoo-in, and he won. But if you tweak the voting results, you can still get elected.

It will be interesting to see if they can make 'exit polls are wrong' happen in so many varied Congressional races in '06.
