Bush admin vs. reality: CNN has a
page devoted to FEMA head Michael Brown's statements contrasted against reports in the field. Total denial of the situation.
- Brown: That's not been reported to me...
- Brown: I've just learned today that we ... are in the process of completing the evacuations of the hospitals, that those are going very well.
- Brown: I've had no reports of unrest, if the connotation of the word unrest means that people are beginning to riot, or you know, they're banging on walls and screaming and hollering or burning tires or whatever. I've had no reports of that.
- Brown: Considering the dire circumstances that we have in New Orleans, virtually a city that has been destroyed, things are going relatively well.
Actually, this is probably a good thing. We have a case now where the evidence is clear and overwhelming that the Bush administration lies. That should change a number of minds.

I dunno, the Administration has been pretty impervious to reality so far. I think all they need to do is to find a good way to blame Clinton for this.
While I don't think the wonderful CNN collection of quotes vs. reality will change too many minds (Republicans being clearly immune to factual discussions), I'm really glad they did it!
The administration's imperviousness is related to outside factors and the Jesus-i-ness of it all.
With poll numbers as low as they are, we can reasonably expect the media to pile on.
Probably excessively, although, considering how they've been prone or supine this whole time, a little overheated journalism isn't way out of line.
