Friday sunrise blogging:

Photo taken from bike path that is on the north side of the Ballona Creek/Channel - which extends from Culver City to the ocean (and empties out adjacent to Marina Del Rey). This territory borders on the city of Los Angeles.

Lovely. And a nice change from all the bad news.

It would be nice to know where this calming picture was taken.

The bulk of the pictures that I expect to post are of sunrises. I walk in the mornings and carry a camera with me. I've taken hundreds of pictures over a six month period (and counting). Many are not worth keeping, but about 5% are. That's how you get the great ones, by taking lots of pictures on many different days. This image, for instance, was taken without expecting much, but when downloaded and viewed, it turned out to be one of the best.

Yummy picture. I can't remember the last time I saw a decent sunrise. I stay up past dawn sometimes, but I just don't get much of a view here.

i remember when i lived in manhattan beach (still a quiet sunny town of stewardesses, actresses, pilots & old-timers) in the 70s. i often, at every different time of day, and in not that much traffic, drove home from bev. hills on sunset and then through the Ballona Creek area - it was so peaceful and serene. you could still breathe with the land - its primal utilitarianism remained mostly intact - even though you felt the encroachment beginning/continuing. i can barely stand to drive through, now- i get so angry.
