A few words: We feel compelled to make a number of points in response to the comments in our post (below) about ABC's Good Morning America segment on children affected by the tsunami. - We thought it was unusual for GMA to only report stories about white European children. Four out of four reports. That is not anywhere near representative of the situation.
- It may be that ABC was lazy, and got the footage from a European media outlet.
- We do not make light of any casualties. We do not endorse belittling the story of, say, the Czech supermodel.
- Often a reason for interviewing non-natives is because few natives can speak English. But that doesn't apply in this case. The areas affected included tourist resorts, and millions of people in the region (e.g. India) speak English.
Now to the second part. President Bush. - We believe he doesn't give a damn about the problem besides offering a perfunctory prayer to salve his own conscience.
- Bush's response to the biggest catastrophe in a decade was totally inappropriate: No public appearance. No statement. He was hiding out at his ranch. During this crisis, instead of doing something positive, he decided to ride a bicycle.
- A substantial part of Bush's political support comes from racists, and they look upon south Asians with disdain similar to that which they hold towards African-Americans, thus, our choice of adverb for Bush's limited support.

Only someone deliberately misreading you would be unclear on any of these points; of course, I'm sure more than a few people were deliberately misreading you.
As for GDub, I'm with you: he doesn't really care about these people. He's a jerk of a human being, and if he were as religious as he claimed to be, he'd be in fear for his mortal soul.
Meanwhile, over at Amazon, individuals giving $58 a crack have raised 10% of what GDub has pledged to aid. Says a lot good about Americans, and a lot of other stuf about Fearless Leader.
Didja notice that upon making an appearance, the first thing that the 1600 Crew spokesmouth did was to first belittle, and then cast aspersions on, of all things, The Clenis? What a sad, sad, bunch of small-minded people are in charge now. Four years later and they still can't get over their total fixation on Clinton.
Not even with the worst natural disaster of the new millenium facing them...and the worst yet to come can they show any real compassion. But hey, it's only brown folks, not like good red-state white jesus-fearin' 'muricans or anything, right?
