Debate thoughts:

From the transcript.

  • The word not spoken even once: "evil"
  • KERRY: ... smart means not diverting your attention from the real war on terror in Afghanistan against Osama bin Laden and taking if off to Iraq ...
BUSH (speaking several minutes later about consoling the widow of a soldier): Her husband PJ got killed. He'd been in Afghanistan, went to Iraq.
  • Number of times the word "smart" was used: Kerry:2     Bush:0
  • Number of times "hard" was used: Kerry:0     Bush:20 (of those, 11 were "hard work")
  • Number of times "I have a plan" was said: Kerry:3     Bush:0

Our overall impression: Kerry was solid. Bush was a 50/50 mix of substance and platitudes.

Kerry did much better against Bush than Gore in the last campaign. This debate should be chalked up as a Kerry victory.

Two points I would like to make about the debate last night.
First, why hasn’t anybody noticed the Presidents “flip-flop” on his most urgent concern?
NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION!
How often has the president used this term before the debate last night? After Sen. Kerry used the term the president must have repeated the term “nuclear proliferation”, or “proliferation”, at least 4 or 5 times, when in response to his biggest concern.

A second point in regards to our rush to war!
Why did the president think that it was so urgent to remove Sadam Husien from power? Sadam never attacked us and he WAS isolated by international sanctions. Why did the President seem to be almost content that someone that has attacked us, Osama Bin Laden, MIGHT be isolated?

Gee, could it be because Saddam tried to wack his Daddy. No self-respecting Texan would ever let that pass. Screw the rest of the world or those 22,000 American soldiers killed or wounded.
