All this talk about whether or not the president can remove U.S. Attorneys for "policy", "political", or "partisan" reasons fogs up the issue. Just say what it is:
Bush wanted to use the Department of Justice to affect the outcome of elections.NOTE: "Partisan" is almost the right word, but has a whif of "policy" about it. This is not a dispute about the right of the president to shape policy. It's about thwarting the democratic process.
Ha ha. My guess is that Bush's purge *is* going to affect an election.
